Biography: Captain John Rudzin moved to the Florida Keys 20 years ago from Petersburg, Virginia. He quit his 13 year job with Allied Signal, sold his home, packed up his possessions and towed his 25’ Tiara Pursuit boat named the “Hot Pursuit” to Marathon in the Florida Keys and has never looked back. His goal of getting a larger boat was realized in 1993 when he bought and rebuilt a 34 foot Hatteras sport fishing boat which he named the Capt. J.R. Another goal he set 20 years ago when first came to the Florida Keys was to move his operations to the world-famous Holiday Isle Marina. In the Last 5 years, he has won the “Fishing for Miracles” Dolphin Tournament twice, and also the Holiday Isle Dolphin Tournament in 2001 with a 44.6 pound fish. Since coming to the Isle in 1997, Captain J.R. has been impressed with the professionalism of the captains and mates and he feels that Holiday Isle and Islamorada give the term “Sportfishing Capital of the World” true meaning.
