Our Islamorada hotel complex is a hub for spectacular Islamorada fishing. Known as the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, Islamorada is home to incredible fishing. Our Islamorada resort and marina has a large charter fleet so you can experience Islamorada fishing of all kinds.

One reason for the tremendous trophy fish collection in Islamorada is the famous Islamorada "Hump". Fourteen miles southeast in the Gulfstream, a small ‘mountain’ rears up from the deep within nearly 200 feet of the surface. The strong Gulfstream current is forced into an upwelling turmoil of food-rich breakers and rips on the surface, visible for miles. This food factory holds a host of resident game fish as well as being a prime stopover for the seasonal pelagics such as wahoo, tuna, dolphin, marlin, sailfish, and many others.

There are dozens of shipwrecks in the area that contribute to making Islamorada fishing world renowned. Several wrecks are Spanish galleons from the same era as the famous Atocha. Though not as rich, they produced a great deal of treasure. The great majority of the shipwrecks, however, were victims of enemy submarine action during World War II. They still have treasure, but today, it’s in the form of game fish that have made the wrecks their home.

The Gulfstream is the Atlantic's superhighway of game fish. The only living coral barrier reef in the western hemisphere rims the stream along its western edge. This beautiful reef supports many game fish as well as an abundant supply of bait. The most popular is the balao (ballyhoo). It is shipped all over the world from the Keys to other sport fishing areas where they are scarce or nonexistent.

For all these reasons, the most experienced and skillful charter boat captains have migrated to the Keys, with the greatest number berthed in Islamorada. The best of the best call Holiday Isle their home port. Visit our Islamorada resort for a great place to stay after a fantastic day of Islamorada fishing.

The months through July offer the same variety with the dolphin tapering off in August. October brings the arrival of the king mackerel and excellent wahoo fishing.
